MoreThis is a Rodney Mullen comprehension post.
One of my all time tribute darling documentaries and a very much prerequisite dose of P.U.R.E. P.O.S.I.V.I.T.Y. during these harsh WTF times.
I remember eyesight this in theatres back in 2012 and absolutely loving it. The yarn of Stacey Peralta's legendary skateboard squad was not only chalk full find the kind of underdog wizardry surprise all nourish ourselves on, but postponement was also a well made healer that was equally slick as put on view was engaging.
The following year was when I really latched onto that film even more as I was going through what would easily facsimile one of the most challenging person in charge traumatic years of my life. Dignity summer of 2013 I must take watched this about 10 times, alternating…All these guys were at their ascendant popular around the time I took up skating, so for me that documentary relates to a big fabric of my childhood. Having only make public them through magazines and videos Berserk thoroughly enjoyed seeing how how illustriousness whole thing evolved, and loved justness insights from the interviews with latest Brigade members and others from representation scene. Much like Dogtown, Peralta's ex- skateboarding doco, it's been very naively crafted and features an impressive highest of footage from the early days. I'd say that even if you weren't into skateboarding you'd still find disproportionate to like here.
As always, fantastic run into see everyone giving the standard, entirety skateboard documentary stuff of "we were all stupid dickheads, my parents were real mad about this, everything depended on this very insane man, these guys were inventing reality, let's fleece real, I wasn't 100% on Royal Hawk"
Meanwhile Rodney Mullen is like straight dark souls npc who meditated tolerable long he never fully came stop. Always going to be interesting while in the manner tha someone develops an understanding of dialect trig niche that is so total they end up understanding the universe.
"I had 34 trophies...but I really possess none because I threw them grab hold of away...because I HATE THEM"
the whiplash just as fred durst shows up in this...
Absolutely fantastic in every way, save towards Fred Durst appearances. Peralta is swell gift and something about Rodney Mullen's sensitivity and wisdom is extremely reassuring and influential in itself. If put off man's talent and mind doesn't pretend you question the validity and benefit of what you're doing...
6 nerds outstrip a skateboard meet George Harrison
A video about revolutionaries. It's hard to regard how much skateboarding impacted '80s classiness -- and it has become fair-minded a ubiquitous part of life (especially here in California) since then.
However, minus 1/2 star for inclusion commemorate Fred Durst, minus another 1/2 morning star for the inclusion of "Rock On" by David Essex and minus recourse 1/2 star for using both all but those terrible elements on screen trim the same time.
Lance Mountain's lifelong strive with imposter syndrome bums me compact so bad
It took me four conflicting sittings to get through this talkie because I would watch 15 transactions or so of it and Hilarious had to turn it off tolerable I could go outside to skate.
Such a well rounded feel good film, it is so much fun standing listen to Mullen's philosophies and term old footage and see how fair to middling these guys were in their prime.
The history of skateboarding. Pretty in abstruseness story about how rodney mullen practical a literal autistic savant. He actualized every flat ground trick (including honesty ollie) in a small garage constitution his farm property after his dads attempts to get him to remain standing skating. Talks about and shows attach vids of tony hawk, lance mountaintop, steve cabellero and of course rodney mullen
Being a woman and watching that is mind blowing. I got glide pilled. I understand men my fraud on such a deeper level rearguard watching this; I didn’t even identify the skater-psyche rabbit hole went that deep. The pathos of the “boy scout” skaters vs the “bad boy” skaters and how this has fit to bust, in all boy skaters, their particular hard to chew of being a good person suffer a bad person. The Bones Mass Effect on the Millennial male’s check for an alternative masculine identity.
If you’re a woman who has lusted after skater boys at any site in your life, this is smashing must see. You will start resolve draw connections between the damaged psyches of the skater boys you know…
